México's three largest cities, México City, Guadalajara and Monterrey also serve as the main business centers for the entire country.  Ninety per-cent of the country's total business takes place in one of these cities.  México City is the center of the country as far as the government is concerned, the country's laws are drafted and passed there.  All of the important law firms as well as the major accounting firms are based in México City, although most have branches in Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Guadalajara and Monterrey are both very important business centers and rapidly gaining in popularity as far as doing business is concerned.  The traffic and pollution of México City are becoming major drawbacks for companies that may wish to establish a presence in México.  Guadalajara and Monterrey are gaining in importance because of more favorable business atmosphere and better living conditions for employees as well as executives.
