The major beach resorts of México offer the visitor an incredible array of luxury beach front accommodations along with some more reasonably priced hotels, usually not right on the water.   Activities and water sports are almost endless on México's beaches.  Jet skis can be rented from most beaches and parasailing is available from many beaches.  Snorkeling and Scuba diving are ever popular, as is whale watching (in season), surfing, kayaking or just lying in a hammock that has been stretched between a couple of palm trees.  Golf courses have become an vital part of of all major beach resorts in México.

Nightlife is usually plentiful in all of México's beach resorts.  Discos and Karaoke are ever popular in México and usually find as big an audience as the more sedate piano bars and dinner cruises.  Many of the major resort hotels have recently incorporated Spas into their theme.  This is becoming a popular way to spend your vacation...being pampered!  It does sound nice, but the Spa treatments have a way of becoming habit forming and can become a rather expensive habit.

The combination of the incredibly beautiful beaches, tropical sun and warm water seem to have a lasting effect on many travelers.  Many vacationers return over and over again to their favorite beach resort and some even end up moving there to live permanently or for some extended period of time.

There are many smaller, more remote, beach resorts, fishing villages and small towns all along México's vast shoreline that offer travelers a chance to really get away from the crowds that are usually associated with the more popular resorts.  These smaller destinations, although usually harder to reach can be even more rewarding to those whose main purpose of a vacation is to really relax.   We have covered many of these smaller, less well known, destinations in another section of this site.
